Buglars and Home Invasions via Doggie Doors

Many people do not realize that the security of your home can be compromised by that little dogie door.  Yes, criminals CAN fit through them.

GLEED, Wash. - A man is in custody Saturday for entering a home through a "dog door".  Deputies say the suspect enter through the home's animal entrance.

Hidden Camera Catches Dog Door Burglar
Deputies have busted a 21-year-old suspect, who was breaking into a woman's home.  The 5-foot-10, 165-pound suspect was getting in through a doggie door. The woman set up a video camera after noticing things missing and other stuff moved around while she was at work

Police: Intruder Came Through Dog Door
PHOENIX -- A 16-year-old girl was hospitalized with non-life-threatening injuries Monday afternoon after she came home to find a man in her house, police said.  the would-be burglar, who the girl described as a Hispanic man standing 5 feet 6 inches and weighing about 180 pounds, broke into the house through the dog door.

Intruder Enters Home Through Doggy Door
Breaking a window, picking a lock or stealing keys – all are common ways to break-in to residential homes. But there may be a new preferential entry method for burglars – the doggy door.

On July 7, a homeowner residing on Ducksprings Way in Sterling learned this lesson firsthand. According to the Loudoun County Sheriff’s Office, “an unknown subject entered a house through a doggy door. The suspect was confronted by a resident and they fled the scene.”

Sullivan homeowner holds intruder at gunpoint until police arrive
When the homeowner went to investigate, armed with a gun, he found a man going through items in his utility room. He held the burglar at gunpoint until officers arrived.  Police say Brehm entered the residence through a dog door.

Homeowner shoots man breaking in dog door
OKLAHOMA CITY -- A metro homeowner shoots at an intruder. It happened early Monday morning in Northwest Oklahoma City. Police say the suspect made his way into the home in a very unconventional way, climbing through the dog door.
