Defacto Gun registration - CHL lists published

You're on the list.  It's just a matter of who can see the list.  It is surprising how many states allow open access to these records. I'm just glad that my state isn't one of them!  If your state is, then please contact your senator.

The Truth about “Assault Weapons”

The Truth about “Assault Weapons”

There has been much talk lately about “Re-instating the assault weapons ban” and “taking AK-47s out of the public sector”.  There has apparently been some major confusion on the part of many people as to what this means, and what the ban really is.

First of all, you must understand that there is no such thing as an “assault weapon”.  That name is a purely political term.  There are three basic classes of firearms:  Single shot, semi-automatic, and fully automatic.

A typical single shot firearms can be represented in several  ways.

First by a “break open” style shotgun or rifle.  These models have no internal magazine and can only hold the one round that is chambered.  These types of firearms are a design holdover from early 1800’s [1] and are still commonly used in bird hunting today.

Single shot firearms can also be represented by lever action or pump action rifles and shotguns – the type often portrayed in Wild West films. These types of firearms may have an internal magazine that can hold several rounds, but fire only once before requiring the shooter to manually chamber and cock the weapon.  These are also design holdover from early 1800’s [1] and are still commonly used today.

And lastly, they can be represented by bolt action rifles which firearms may have an internal magazine that can hold several rounds, but fire only once before requiring the shooter to manually chamber and cock the weapon.

To put it more simply, you pull the trigger once, it goes bang once.

·         A semiautomatic firearm is a model that uses the action from the firing of one round to help the shooter by chambering  and cocking  the next round.

A typical semiautomatic firearm can be represented by a “double action” revolver, similar to or eveolved from the S&W designs in the 1850’s.

Likewise, a  semiautomatic firearm can be represented by a modern “semi” handgun, such as the popular Glock – commonly used for home defense, concealed carry, and police issue sidearms.

And finally, (and most significantly) a  semiautomatic firearm can be represented by a plethora of typical moderns hunting or sport guns, such as the M14 ranch rifle, Benelli Nova duck hunters shotgun, or the popular and customizable AR platform sport rifle.
The significant factor here for anti-gun politicians is that these modern firearms are typically capable of adding on various conveniences, like flashlights, adjustable shoulder stocks, front grips, or other accessories in a method similar to mounting a scope.  This apparently makes the gun lobbyists nervous.

Despite the fact that the firearm now as a “scary flashlight” attached to it,  you pull the trigger once, it still just goes bang once.

·         A fully automatic weapon is one that uses the action from the firing of one round to both re-chamber and cock the weapon AND fire the next round automatically.  These are known as Machine guns and Submachine guns.
Fully automatic weapons are typically used by the military for fire suppression and rapidly firing at targets from a (typically) close range.

To put it more simply, you pull the trigger once, it goes bang MANY times.

The term “Assault weapon” is specifically intended to conjure images of a shooter aggressively engaging targets with the capacity and speed of a fully automatic weapon (ie: in a military style assault).  In politics however, this term is used to describe modern semi-automatic sporting weapons, despite the fact that semi-automatic weapons would be ineffective at assault style fire suppression or at rapidly firing at multiple targets from close range.

The term was used by the anti-gun lobby and aimed at semiautomatic firearms that looked like fully automatic firearms.  If a semiautomatic firearm had any conventions or features that made it’s use more convenient to the gun owner, such as an adjustable length stock for taller shooters, or more comfortable pistol grip, or a replicable magazine, it was labeled  an “Assault weapon” and demonized.
The purpose in using this terminology is to shift the discussion of gun control from a logical debate to an emotionally charged rhetoric.  In this way, they could confuse and panic more people into agreeing to further limit an individual’s gun rights.

Regardless of what side of the gun-control argument you are on, do not let yourself be fooled  into mis-characterization of the facts or irrational thinking.  We chastise those who would judge a person by their skin as illogical, irrational and biased.  Doing the same with a firearm to create confusion and  fear just because of the way it looks is just as illogical, irrational and biased.  Should we outlaw a toy NERF gun because it LOOKS like a military weapon?  No.  Why?  Because it does not function like a military weapon.  A so called “Assault weapon” is no more dangerous than any other modern hunting rifle.  It functions the same way, has the same rate of fire, and even uses the same common ammunition.

Who cares what the gun looks like?  Paint it pink, put glitter on it.  As long as you pull the trigger once and it only goes bang once, it is not a "military style assault weapon".

There is no such thing as an “Assault Weapon”.  Don’t fall for the rhetoric.  Don’t perpetuate the lie.

PS - I'll put a hello Kitty stock on my rifle, just to make the anti-gun politicians nervous!

Oklahoma Open Carry law goes into effect Nov. 1 Read more: Altus Times - Oklahoma Open Carry law goes into effect Nov 1

The Oklahoma Open Carry law goes into effect on Nov. 1. According to the Oklahoma Open Carry Association (OKOCA), the law means that: as of that date, “…it will be legal to openly carry a handgun in the State of Oklahoma. This means that any person with a valid handgun license issued by the Oklahoma State Bureau of Investigation has the option to conceal or open carry their handgun. Open carry means that the firearm is carried in a manner that it is clearly visible to others, such as in an outside the waistband holster worn on a belt or in a shoulder holster that is worn on the outside of a shirt, blouse, vest, or jacket.”

Answers to these frequently asked questions about the Open Carry law are courtesy of the Oklahoma Open Carry Association.
  • Do I need a permit to open carry? Yes. In Oklahoma a handgun permit issued by the OSBI is required to legally open carry a handgun.
  • Is there any restriction on the type of handgun I can open carry? Yes. Oklahoma law limits an open carry or conceal carry handgun to .45 caliber ammunition or smaller.
  • Won’t open carry scare people? Almost every other state in the country allows open carry. There is no evidence to support the claim that open carry will cause more violence. The “wild west” image conveyed by those who oppose open carry is simply rhetoric. There is evidence, including an FBI study, which indicates that the presence of a firearm significantly reduces a person’s risk of becoming a victim.
  • Can I be charged for disorderly conduct if someone is frightened or offended by my open carry of a handgun? No. Section 1289.24.A.3. “As provided in the preemption provisions of this section, the otherwise lawful open carrying of a handgun under the lawful open carrying of a handgun under the provisions of the Oklahoma Self-Defense Act shall not be punishable by any municipality or other political subdivision of this state as disorderly conduct, disturbing the peace or similar offense against public order.”
  • Is a police officer allowed to check the serial number on my handgun to see if it is stolen or check to see if my handgun is safe or not? No. Section 1290.8.E. Nothing in this section shall be construed to authorize a law enforcement officer to inspect any weapon properly concealed or unconcealed without probable cause that a crime has been committed.
  • Am I required to provide identification if I am stopped by a police officer? Yes. A licensed individual must notify a police officer upon first contact if they are in possession of a handgun. An individual must provide a valid handgun license issued by the OSBI and state issued ID or driver’s license to a police officer upon request.

Cook County mulling violence tax on guns and ammunition

BY LISA DONOVAN
Drawing the ire of the gun lobby, Cook County Board President Preckwinkle is eyeing a violence tax on guns and ammunition sold in the city and suburbs, the Chicago Sun-Times has learned.

Such a tax alone wouldn’t close a $115 million budget gap in 2013, but it could at least funnel money into the county’s $3 billion operation — where roughly two-thirds of the budget pays for both the county’s public health clinics and two hospitals along with the criminal justice system that includes the courts and jail.

“If we were to pursue a tax on something like guns and ammo, clearly that wouldn’t be popular with the [gun lobby] out there, and it may not generate $50 million, but ... it is consistent with our commitment to pursuing violence reduction in the city and in the county,” Kurt Summers, Preckwinkle’s chief of staff, said on Monday.

The idea is to curb the number of guns in circulation, he said, citing a report issued last summer showing that nearly one-third of the guns recovered on Chicago’s streets were purchased in suburban gun shops. Other statistics are more dire: Murders in Chicago are up 25 percent this year, according to recent police statistics, and the county jail is filling up — with 9,000-plus inmates, nearing the 10,155 capacity.

Along with the tragic human toll, gun violence takes a toll on government coffers.

“It impacts law enforcement, both at the city and the county [levels]. It impacts the courtrooms, the public defender and state’s attorney that are in there, the judges that are in there, the clerk of the court that has to sit there, the sheriff’s deputies that are in that courtroom and it impacts the jail — the folks that are sitting there at $143 a day,” he said, referring to the daily cost of keeping an inmate behind bars.

EDITORS NOTE:   Bullshit.  It's unconstitutional is what it is.  And it has nothing to do with curbing violence.  It has everything to do with greedy politicians and government overreach.  Thugs don't get always their guns at retailers.  They don't pay sales taxes on those "acquisitions".  And a tax isn't a bulletproof vest.  You want to curb violence?  Start with Education and encouraging law abiding citizens to arm & train.

10 Lessons for Armed Citizens from the Dark Night Theater Mass Murder

10 Lessons for Armed Citizens from the Dark Night Theater Mass Murder

By Ed Monk

Arkansas --(Ammoland.com)- We encourage our defensive handgun students to study media stories about violent attacks to find lessons, consider options, and conduct mental rehearsals.

There are still many facts and details the public does not know about the “active shooter” attack in a movie theater in Aurora, CO, on July 20th.

But in its immediate aftermath, there does seem to be enough information to reap valuable lessons for legally armed citizens to learn or re-learn about preparing for, identifying, and reacting to an “active shooter” (AS) event.

These include lessons about mindset, gear, and tactics. To limit the size of this article, I offer these ten. For simplicity, I will refer to the Active Shooter and the armed citizen as “he” or “him.”

1. When an AS begins his attack, it may not be immediately obvious to you and others what exactly is happening.
After many AS attacks, witnesses have stated that they initially believed the gunshots they first heard were fireworks, construction, or some kind of prank. Even for those of us who shoot often and are very familiar with the sounds of gun shots (although usually altered through hearing protection), that sound in a crowded public place would be extremely uncommon or a new experience for most people. In the Aurora AS attack, this confusion was amplified by the darkness of the theater and (at least somewhat) reasonable assumptions by many witnesses who initially believed the smoke and shots were special effects or some surprise special promotion by the theater for this special midnight premiere of a hyped-up, action movie. Although rare and bizarre, we must keep the AS attack mentally filed as the possible cause for sights and sounds we experience in public. The more quickly we realize and identify an AS after he begins shooting, the more quickly we can react to protect ourselves and other innocent people.

2. An AS attack can happen in low-light and darkness.
The vast majority of AS attacks I’ve researched have occurred in daylight or in well-lit indoor locations. Two exceptions (until now) that immediately come to mind are portions of the Mumbai (India) attack by teams of multiple shooters and the AS who turned off the lights in the aerobics workout room in a Pennsylvania fitness center before shooting at women inside. The Aurora AS attack occurred inside a dark theater at night. Had an armed citizen been in that theater, a tactical light would have been very useful (maybe a requirement?) to properly identify and engage the AS, if the decision was made to do so. Because many companies are making tactical lights that are small, lightweight, bright, and reasonably priced, keeping one with you is now easy to do. Gear will do nothing by itself, so knowing how to fight with your handgun while holding and using a tactical light would be a critical skill in such a low-light attack. Night sights would, of course, also be extremely helpful in engaging the AS in a dark environment, after you have positively identified the threat.

3. An armed citizen may get a “long distance” handgun shot at an AS.
Many of us have heard the statistics about the “average” distance of a self-defense shooting being very close – within the 1-5 yard range. And we are told the vast majority of such shootings are within 7 yards. This seems correct and reasonable since most self-defense shootings are against attackers who must get close enough to touch you. So it seems logical for armed citizens to spend most limited training time and ammunition on the most likely self-defense scenarios, those that are within spitting distance. But I have heard some armed citizens say that practicing defensive handgun shooting beyond seven yards is a waste of time, because you could never “justify” shooting someone at that distance. An AS scenario would be an exception to that theory. If you had been in the back half of that Aurora movie theater, or on the side opposite the exit door the AS entered, you very well might have been 20-30 yards away from him. This long-distance engagement could occur in any AS attack location, such as a parking lot, school, mall, or church. So, to be prepared to act on and end an AS attack, the armed citizen may need the ability to, under severe stress (and other adverse conditions), shoot at and hit (maybe multiple times) the killer at distances that require increased skill.

A gun fight is a balance of accuracy and speed. At a defensive shooting distance of two yards against someone trying to kill you, speed is extremely important in that balance. While you must get solid hits, they do not require precision, and time is extremely limited. At longer distances, the accuracy-speed balance tips toward accuracy. These are precision shots, especially against smaller body parts or a moving target. Rushed and missed shots against an AS fail to stop the mass murder, allowing the number of victims to increase. Missed shots also waste your ammunition, draw attention to you (more on this later), and cause danger to innocent people.

So, to prepare for the possibility of engaging an active shooter, the armed citizen needs to train at longer distances. How far? The question might not be, “How far away from the target should I train?”, but instead know how far you are capable and confident of getting hits. A suggestion is to start with the handgun you carry at a close distance, then increase the distance incrementally by a few yards at a time. Each shooter doing this will discover, with his skill and chosen gun, at what distance he loses confidence in getting hits. That is an important thing to know. If an armed citizen then encounters an AS at a distance beyond where he feels confident, he has three choices: escape; hide or find cover and wait for the AS to move closer; or advance towards the AS until the armed citizen feels confident in his ability.

The ability to hit a long-distance target under stress requires proper training and proper gear. Armed citizens carry a wide variety of handgun types that have a wide variety of capabilities. Small guns with short barrels and small sights are less suited to long-distance hits under stress. So armed citizens who want to be prepared to engage an AS at longer distances should choose, carry and train with a handgun that gives them the capability, with proper training, to do so. Imagine how an armed citizen would feel if he was inside the back corner of such a theater when such an AS attack began, with only a North American Arms .22 micro-revolver in his/her pocket or purse? Our gear and our training are the only variables armed citizens have control over once an AS attack starts, so we should maximize both.

4. The AS may be wearing body armor.
If initial media reports are accurate, the murderer in the Aurora theater attack is at least the third active shooter (not counting the L.A. bank robbers) to be wearing some type of body armor. Most armed citizens who might engage an AS would probably attempt torso shots. If successful at achieving torso hits, they likely would not stop a murderer wearing a protective vest. Using a handgun to engage an AS with a protective vest would require precision shooting while under stress. If the AS protective vest is visible and obvious, then all shots should be aimed at points other than typical “center of upper chest” for which most of us train. But it might not be so obvious. What might happen is the brave armed citizen, attempting to stop the AS, is frustrated and puzzled as to why his initial shots are not stopping the AS (This supports a decision to carry extra ammunition). The armed citizen might assume he is missing the AS, and not alter sight placement. If you are confident in your sights and trigger press, and are seeing no effects of several torso shots, consider the possibility of body armor.

Regardless of when you realize or suspect body armor on the AS, immediately move the location of your aim. Possible alternate bullet placement options (if exposed) include the head, shoulders, armpits, hips, legs or arms (but they can be armored as well), and ankles or feet. All of these require precision shots against small targets, all of which might be moving. Having confidence in one’s gear and skill would be essential for such hits, which requires training. Techniques that might improve accuracy for an armed citizen in such a situation include bracing your body against something to steady your hands, or going to a kneeling or prone firing position if possible. Again, the chosen carry gun will make such a shot either less or more difficult. Imagine deciding to engage a moving AS wearing body armor at 20 yards with a derringer or Ruger LCP.

Also realize that when you start engaging an AS, if you do not stop him, (among other negative things) you may draw his fire. Many Active Shooters commit suicide or give up when confronted with resistance or force, but not all. When a brave armed citizen attempted to stop an AS wearing a protective vest in a Tyler, TX parking lot in 2005, he drew fire from the AS, which unfortunately killed the armed citizen.

5. Expect to be out-gunned.
Most Active Shooters have a long gun, and many have multiple guns. Most of the few that only had a handgun, had a high-capacity, full size handgun with several spare magazines and/or extra rounds of ammunition. So, playing the odds, if an armed citizen decides to engage an AS, the citizen can expect to have far less capable gear. To win, therefore, the armed citizen must rely on three possible advantages: (1) the surprise of a citizen having a gun and the decision of when it is deployed; (2) skill gained through repetitive training for just such an event ; (3) and tactics, which can include movement and use of cover & concealment.

Gun Registration Already In Action!

National Guard ask police for names of gunowners and military vets

by

Two days ago, I received a very troubling phone call from a trusted friend. The friend does not want his name and that of his state to be made public. I will call my friend X and his state Y.

Here is what X told me:

Last Saturday, August 4, 2012, X got a phone call from a good friend, Z, who is a cop in a small town in Y.
Z said that both he and a cop in another neighboring town were paid a visit by two men, driving in separate unmarked Humvees, who identified themselves as members of the National Guard.
The two National Guardsmen (NGs) said they were “doing a survey” and asked the cops for those residents of their respective towns who:
  • own lots of firearms;
  • are long-distance shooters;
  • are military veterans.
The cops told the NGs that, it being a Saturday, they should come back on Monday when the police chiefs are at the stations. But the NGs said they are asking precisely the rank-and-file police officers; in other words, the NGs’ intent was to bypass the brass, i.e., the chain of command.
After the two NGs left, cop Z followed their vehicles and saw the NGs drive around town, making GPS readings.
Cop Z told my friend X that:
  • The National Guard is working under the Dept. of Homeland Security (DHS).
  • Obama and Eric Holder, known for their antipathy toward the Second Amendment and private gun ownership, found a legal loophole that allows the federal government to ask the questions the two NGs had asked the cops. And so Obama issued a presidential directive empowering such agencies as the FBI, U.S. Marshalls, BATF (Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, and Firearms), and the National Guard to gather this information to compile a data base.

So I went looking on the web. This is what I found:

1. I found NOTHING about the National Guard going around asking cops for information on owners of firearms and military vets, in Y or any other state.

2. The U.S. National Guard is considered to be a reserve military force and, as such, is under the Dept. of Defense, not Homeland Security. The agencies that are under DHS are Customs and Border Protection, Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA), Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE), Transportation Security Administration (TSA), U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services, U.S. Coast Guard, U.S. Secret Service, and the Office of Inspector General. (See DHS’s organizational chart).

3. I cannot find a presidential directive that specifically orders federal agencies like the National Guard to conduct a firearms survey by asking cops in towns across America. But that is not to say that such a presidential directive doesn’t exist. Here’s why:

I discovered and opened a can of worms about which I’d never even known until now. The “can of worms” is something called Presidential Directives. This is what Wikipedia says:

Presidential Directives … are a form of an executive order issued by the President of the United States with the advice and consent of the National Security Council. The directives articulate the executive’s national security policy and carry the “full force and effect of law”.
Since many of the Presidential Directives pertain to the national security of the United States, many were or are secret (“classified“).

Say goodbye to all your online ammo sources

From The Trenches reports on legislation that is currently before Congress to put the squeeze on those of us wishing to maintain our Second Amendment rights.
Enter H.R. 6241 and S. 3458, identical bills in both houses that are currently in committee; titled Stop Online Ammunition Sales Act of 2012 .
When passed, in person sales of ammunition will be required, as well as registration of amounts exceeding 1,000 rounds, or 1,000 rounds over a week period. The idea behind this legislation is to make you pay more in the future for ammunition and to register sales. It will also limit your selection to what ever is available at a local store.

Another bill before Congress, sitting in committee is Gun Show Loophole Closing Act of 2011. It is H.R. 591, in the House and S.35 in the Senate. It would permanently ban Gun Shows if passed.

Here is another one held up in committee, Fix Gun Checks Act of 2011.This one penalized states that don’t report enough violators to the National Instant Criminal Background Checks. In the Senate it is S. 436.

Doing a search for ‘assault weapons’ this Bill came up, titled Child Gun Safety And Gun Access Prevention Act Of 2011. This one raises the age of ‘Juvenile’ to ‘under 21′ with penalties for transfer of guns, ammunition, high capacity clips to anyone under 21 who might commit a crime. This one is bound to pass, because of the New Speak in the title. The socialists will love it.

UN Small Arms Treaty Passes While Media Sleeps

by

According to the UN’s press release,
Concluding its two-week session today, the second United Nations conference to review the 2001 Programme of Action on trafficking in small arms and light weapons adopted a consensus outcome document that highlighted the international community’s renewed commitment to preventing, combating and eradicating the illicit trade.

According to the text, Member States renewed their pledge to rid the world of the scourge brought upon it by the illicit manufacture, transfer and circulation of small arms and light weapons, and their excessive accumulation and uncontrolled spread in many parts of the world.
All countries signed the declaration and further documentation can be found here.

Right about now you are probably thinking, so what? As long as the Senate doesn’t ratify all if well. Ask yourself if you are familiar with the United Nation’s Agenda 21. The Senate didn’t ratify that. Instead Bill Clinton basically passed it by executive order. Mike Opelka, at the Blaze writes:
Agenda 21 is a two-decade old, grand plan for global ’Sustainable Development,’ brought to you from the United Nations. George H.W. Bush (and 177 other world leaders) agreed to it back in 1992, and in 1995, Bill Clinton signed Executive Order #12858, creating a Presidential Council on ‘Sustainable Development.’ This effectively pushed the UN plan into America’s large, churning government machine without the need for any review or discussion by Congress or the American people.
So it is perfectly feasible that this will be implemented over a period of years, but very short years.

Man Investigated By Police For Buying Ammunition

Commercial fisherman questioned over purchase of a few boxes of ammo even as feds buy bullets in huge quantities

By Paul Joseph Watson

A commercial fisherman was investigated by police for purchasing a few boxes of ammunition at his local gun store, a shocking example of how Americans are being intimidated out of exercising their second amendment rights even as the federal government buys up bullets in vast quantities.

In a You Tube clip, Brian Loftus reveals how on the 28th of August he purchased a few boxes of ammunition from his local gun shop only to receive a phone call later that same evening at 9:30pm from the State Police.
The cops said they needed to talk to Loftus because he had “purchased a large amount of ammunition.”

Loftus said the police told him someone who was in the gun store while he made the purchase who works for the Chief of Police reported Loftus to make sure he “wasn’t going to do something crazy.”

Loftus told the police he had no criminal record, a fact they immediately confirmed having admitted that they had already checked his record. Loftus told the police they shouldn’t even be pulling the record unless he was a suspect in a crime, which he was not.

“As things are progressing in the country, this is becoming more prevalent and as someone who has swore an oath to defend the Constitution like I have and these officers have, they have to wonder how many people are they gonna call? Are they gonna call their brother in law next time he goes to buy some ammunition or their brother or sister or son – where does it end?” asked Loftus.

“I shoot that amount of ammunition on a good weekend at the range so why are they calling me to ‘make sure’ that I’m not going to do something crazy….I’m just a hard working, tax paying American who loves his country and loves the constitution,” he added.

The fact that Loftus was investigated for buying a few boxes of bullets is ironic given that the federal government is making huge ammo purchases as the establishment media labels those who express concern about the fact as paranoid conspiracy theorists.

As we highlighted last week, the Associated Press attempted to whitewash the Social Security Administration’s recent purchase of 174,000 bullets while completely ignoring a far larger purchase by the DHS which totaled over 1.4 billion bullets.

Back in March, Homeland Security put out a solicitation for 450 million rounds of .40-caliber hollow point bullets that are designed to expand upon entry and cause maximum organ damage, prompting questions as to why the DHS needed such a large amount of powerful bullets merely for training purposes.
This was followed by another DHS solicitation asking for a further 750 million rounds of assorted bullets, including 357 mag rounds that are able to penetrate walls.

“It doesn’t matter what side of the aisle you are on, if you love freedom and you love America you have to wonder where does this go….where does it stop?” asked Loftus.

The reason Loftus was harassed by police was almost certainly related to his membership of the Oath Keepers organization, a group that simply advocates people who swear an oath to uphold and protect the Constitution should not violate it.

The Oath Keepers organization is not a “militia,” as some claim, it is merely a loose network of current and former military and law enforcement professionals who have sworn not to obey unconstitutional orders such as gun confiscation, warrantless searches and mass internment of Americans. The group is committed to non-violence.

Senator Dianne Feinstein to Introduce Updated “Assault” Weapons Ban at DNC

Senator Dianne Feinstein to Introduce Updated “Assault” Weapons Ban at DNC

Dianne Feinstein announced Wednesday that she’s re-entering the battle over gun control during her keynote speech to the California delegates to the Democratic National Convention.
Feinstein was president of the San Francisco’s Board of Supervisors on what she calls that city’s “day of infamy” in 1978, when a former colleague shot and killed Harvey Milk and Mayor George Moscone. Since then, Senator Feinstein has been one of the most vocal proponents of gun control on Capitol Hill.
She promised California delegates she’d return to Congress to reintroduce “an updated assault weapons bill.”
At the delegates’ breakfast, she said that, “Weapons of war do not belong on our streets, in our classrooms, in our schools or in our movie theatres.”

Great, more attacks on US citizens’ rights.    Unsurprising they omit that Milk and Moscone were killed by a city supervisor who was a cop.  Can’t trust citizens, but can trust the government?

Considering how the last AWB did nothing to disarm criminals, did everything to make firearms illegal based on cosmetic features, restricted US citizens’ rights while accusing them of being criminals for wanting to exercise their rights; and considering how the Obama administration in the form of the ATF was running guns to narcoterrorists with Fast and Furious, this is stupid and offensive on virtually every level.
Eastwood was right, Biden is the brains behind the Democrat party.

Update: Charley Jones of Texas Overnight noted that this is much the standard stuff that Feinstein will throw out to please her rabid anti-gun constituents in order to say “look how serious I am about banning guns”, while expecting it to be nothing but lip service to the Brady people and such.  He has a solid point about that as a likely scenario, that would also be close to the best-case scenario.

At the same time, issues of application of regulation, the executive priviledge exercised in F&F, the sometimes strange standards set by Heller & McDonald – and ready to be exploited, lead to a climate where this is indicative of the mindset.  The reception the DNC gives to this will be noteworthy – after all, they’re the Bill Newells and Teresa Ficarettas of the ATF, the Dennis Burkes of the DOJ, the Elijah Cummings of the Oversight Committee, and all the other rogue’s gallery of anti-rights activists in government.
